• Who am I?

I am Qrystal; or at least, that's my dot-name! Har har. (My name is really Crystal, but that's not as internet-searchable; hence, switching the C for the little-used letter Q.)

I am here because I enjoy writing. I do this mostly for myself, but I also have a passion for helping others learn things from the things I write. Now that I am done my Ph.D. in Physics, I am stepping away from academic research so that I can indulge in some creative ways to share my knowledge and inspire the appreciation of scientific thinking in others. I am also working as a tutor, which is one of the jobs I've most enjoyed doing in my life so far.

    Circle of Knowledge

    Monday, May 12th, 2008

“As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it.” — Albert Einstein

    What “Not To Do” Today

    Friday, April 4th, 2008

The “Not To Do” List reminds me of my vices so I stay on track. I woke up this morning with this haiku in my head. Or rather, I half-awoke and tried to awaken the rest of my mind by pondering the haiku that I was going to twitter when I started work for the [...]

    Cheers to Good People!

    Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Today is “Good People Day” (GPD08), pass it on!!! I’ve always liked the term “Good People,” especially in sentences like: “He’s Good People.” It’s as if there is something bigger about the idea than simply that the person is good to others, or does specific good deeds, but that the person is genuinely worthy of [...]

“Motivate me!” I said to myself.

    Thursday, January 31st, 2008

When the title for this post came to me, I liked it immediately, and I’d like to explore the reasons why. To do so, I will look at the terms “me, myself, and I” and see how each one individually contributes to my entire persona.

    Integrate over time…

    Monday, January 28th, 2008

Recently, I have been contemplating ways to improve my perception of time so that I can make better use of it. I am trying to resist doing too much reading about the subject, because it is very important not to let myself whittle away my time reading instead of doing. I do allow myself to [...]

    Mindmaps and mind mapping

    Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

I’ve recently realized the power of Mind Maps, (What’s a mindmap? and How to Get Started Immediately) and I have been using them for many different things. I suspect I’ll be using them a lot in the future, too, because they’re just so POWERFUL! I really encourage others to try it, because I believe that [...]

    Love is Fundamental

    Monday, January 10th, 2005

Cats can teach us a lot about love. I see it in my cats’ eyes: they know what it means to love, and they know that I love them back. They understand what I’m telling them when I kiss them on their foreheads, and they know what they’re telling me when they kiss my forehead [...]
