• Who am I?

I am Qrystal; or at least, that's my dot-name! Har har. (My name is really Crystal, but that's not as internet-searchable; hence, switching the C for the little-used letter Q.)

I am here because I enjoy writing. I do this mostly for myself, but I also have a passion for helping others learn things from the things I write. Now that I am done my Ph.D. in Physics, I am stepping away from academic research so that I can indulge in some creative ways to share my knowledge and inspire the appreciation of scientific thinking in others. I am also working as a tutor, which is one of the jobs I've most enjoyed doing in my life so far.

Feeling the need to restructure my days

    Saturday, February 16th, 2008

I keep coming back to the question of how I can be more productive, even though intellectually I know that it’s just another way my mind likes to procrastinate the things I actually need to DO to be productive. I just can’t seem to shake the notion that, somewhere, there is a system of tracking [...]

    Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I am pretty sure that what I hate most about making decisions is the possibility of being wrong. I’ve been worrying today that my choice of Task Management App might have been the wrong choice, but I can’t quite put my finger on why. Every specific reason I’m coming up with isn’t quite right, because [...]

Could this Productivity System be “The One”?!

    Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I’ll be the first to admit that I understand all the danger of mucking around with my productivity system, because I really should just be using it to Get Things Done. But when it just ain’t working, it just ain’t working. I know my mindset has been improving, and I really am trying to just [...]

    Just another Manic Monday…

    Monday, October 8th, 2007

I am resisting the urge to treat today like a holiday, even though it is one. My husband works across the border, and thus gets a Thanksgiving holiday in November instead of October, and we usually go travelling that long weekend… which means I shouldn’t really take a holiday now AND then. So, chop-chop, go [...]

    Harnessing my Momentum

    Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

I did something yesterday I’ve been gearing myself towards for quite some time: I went to campus to do work. I’ve known that working from home doesn’t always work, but trying to drag myself out of the house doesn’t always work either. So yesterday, I actually hitched a ride with my husband and got to [...]
